Copy Cat and Oscars Monday

Sometimes you see a room that stops you in your tracks.  You say out loud to no one "whoa whoa whoa".  I love it when this happens!

Saw this Jeff McNamara image on Pinterest the other day and did the whoa whoa whoa thing.  Then started to break it down.  It's so simple.  I can do this.  My basic bedding is all white.  I have been called a dog with a bone...when I want something I will hunt.it.down.

How cool is Lamps Plus new Color Plus line of lamps in a bazillion colors?

Or here is the actual lamp in the photo, it's this one from Circa Lighting:

For the art above the bed, I already have some great black and white prints that would be perfect.

And here is where my plan hits a road block.

How gorgeous is this lacquered nightstand?  It's kind of important in the overall feel of the inspiration room right?  But's it's $1075!  And obvi you need two.  Yikes.

Herein lies the challenge.  What are some suitable (and by suitable I mean "normal" price range) substitutes?  I'm taking suggestions...email me photos please.

In other news...

#Oscars2013

ARGO!!!

Woohoo!!!  How did you enjoy the show?  I thought:

Seth was adorable and very funny.

Barbra made me bawl! #memories #hubbell

Jennifer Lawrence charming and deserving.

Ben Affleck was ridiculously sweet.

Daniel Day Lewis..Brits can really make a good speech.

Jane Fonda #bestdressed

I'm out...Have a great Monday.

  1. That room is beautiful and I am sure you will find a way to pull it off. Great Oscars and so glad Argo one and I would have been happy with Silver Linings, too.

  2. Great room! I can see why you would be drawn to it after seeing the Cougar town set. Wish I knew of a cheaper option for the nightstand. I bet the curved front is what makes it so expensive - it makes the piece. May be hard to find.

    1. If only money were no object, I think I would order them today. So darn pretty. Also found the same ones at Bungalow 5...haven't checked the price yet but probably the same. I wish Crate and Barrel would make a knock off! Lol :)

  5. Matching nightstands isn't necessary, right? I've never been on board the matchy matchy nightstand look. I think as long as your lamps match and the nightstand/chest/table are the same height and color it would look great and less expensive. Good luck on your hunt. I'll be lookin' for ya too!

  7. I feel like you could DIY a glossy dresser for cheap, and lamps.( We got Bethany's at JCPenneys and painted them for under$30 @) Check out Etsy for pillows, those are the best prices..and of course check all the HGoods, Target, etc. for pillow choices, too. You'll do it, it will be a blast.

  9. When I worked in fashion, we had a term called "knock-off" and I think you really knocked off that room with style. I think the dresser would be easy to find a pair at a local thrift shop and paint them a high gloss.
love how that room looks so springy~
