Oscar Sunday

It's been a wet and soggy weekend here in LA. Kind of a bummer for the Oscars. They're squeegy-ing off the red carpet...it's not pretty.

There were so many great movies and performances this year, it's hard to pick my favorites.

I enjoyed every single thing about American Hustle.

So, so good!

These guys will probably win Best Picture but man it was hard to watch the brutal treatment of humans in 12 Years a Slave.

Matthew McConaughey nailed it yet again in Dallas Buyers Club...the favorite for Best Actor.  Another sad movie.

I was thoroughly entertained for three hours watching Wolf of Wall Street, and I loved the sweet and touching story of Philomena.

The stellar cast of August: Osage County was outstanding making it very entertaining.  What's not to love about Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts?  Not to mention Margo Martindale, Sam Shepard, Dermot Mulroney, Abigail Breslin, Juliette Lewis and Benedict Cumberbatch.  So much talent.

In Nebraska, June Squibb and Bruce Dern were amazing.  There's something really special about watching seasoned veterans shine so brightly.

Like I said, so many great movies and performances, it's impossible to pick a favorite.

On a side note, how awesome was the piece today on CBS Sunday Morning on Academy Award winner Eva Marie Saint?  True movie star.   But more importantly, she gets it.  No plastic surgery, 89 years old and looks beautiful.  Walks every day, married to the same man for 62 years, devoted mother and grandmother.  I'll leave you with one of her memorable quotes that is especially appropriate today:

"America is now obsessed with stars in an unhealthy way.  They don't actually deserve this kind of attention.  They're only actors, not scientists who are triumphing over cancer or doing some other wonderful thing." - Eva Marie Saint

I totally agree.  A healthy fascination however, is acceptable.  So for tonight, I'll be healthily obsessed.

How about you?
What are your Oscar favorites?

Have an awesome Sunday.

Star of the Week...Why I Love My Home Sweet Hollywood

Jack Bauer in my hood today people...the extremely talented Emmy award winning actor Kiefer Sutherland shopping for office supplies.

Excuse me for a minute while I catch my  breath.  Dude is sexy and very very sweet.  Hard to imagine him playing such a badass character as Jack Bauer on the amazing show 24.

Huge fan of his work...told him so right there in the pens & pencils aisle of the office supply store.  He thanked me with all kinds of genuine warmth.  Also told him how much I love his father's work...Ordinary People being one of my all-time favorite movies.  His too!  Kiefer and I have so much in common...who knew?

Woke up today wondering when and if another blog post idea would ever materialze and bam...go to buy a battery and there it is.  Like a gift from heaven...with dreamy blue eyes.

You're welcome. :)

Star of the Week (SUPERstar?)

Like most of you I'm still shaken by the events in Newtown.  Hope you had some good family moments over the holidays and plenty of hugging your kids.

I think I could write a blog on the star sighting of the week at the market (or Starbucks).  I don't even mention it mostly..it happens all the time.  Yesterday however was one that I can't not mention.
The beautiful Annette Bening at Whole Foods.  I'm not one to get star-struck since it's such a frequent occurrence, but seriously people...Annette Bening.  Big time movie star.  Married to big time movie star Warren Beatty.  Hollywood royalty. She was so stunning I wanted to just stop and stare at her but my daughter scolded me so I just kept walking.

In other news, still looking every day for a house, condo or apartment to buy.  People don't do much real estate selling over the holidays.  There are like 5 places and nothing good.  Gotta keep the faith though...something will come up.

In the meantime does anyone know a way to break the habit of eating this every morning for breakfast:

Or grabbing one of these every single time you walk through the kitchen:

How do you kick the holiday sweets habit?

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy New Year!

Star of the Week....helloooo Mr. Big

Sex and the City or The Good Wife?

Do you love either or both of these shows?
I do!

One of the perks of living in L.A. is that you never know who you will run into.  Yesterday at the Starbucks I go to all the time (it is near my office and my hopefully-soon-to-be new neighborhood) I spied Chris Noth for the second time in about a month.  I guess he lives in the neighborhood when he's not in New York filming The Good Wife.
This is not my photo because I don't ever like to invade the privacy of celebrities...think it's kinda creepy and stalkerish.

But you must admit...

Dude is adorable.  Married, but adorable.

Thanks for visiting ~ have a good one...
